A book opens the door to many worlds, and for his resort collection for Akris, Albert Kriemler found inspiration in tomes about the works of Mexican architect Luis Barragán and, especially, his geometric home and stable in Mexico City, Cuadra San Cristobal. “He was a modern architect who has feeling and color sense as well as feeling for sensitive materials,” said Kriemler. Thus the designer’s play on bold colors (fuchsia, azure) and use of Barragán’s photo prints on the clothes: skyscrapers on a delicate pleated dress, a wall of pink doors on a shift, a floral and gated door on a frock and a leafy motif on a jacket and skirt. More minimal looks sans prints included modern dresses with zipper details, as well as slim trousers and linear coats.
