Dually inspired by Joseph Szabo’s photographs of typical American teenage life and Frank Stella’s colors, Pookie and Louisa Burch developed a more feminine side of Trademark for resort. “I thought, ‘It’s resort. I should do ruffles,'” said Pookie, who used the motif graphically as the red accent neckline on a white poplin dress and geometrically on the front of plaid skirts. The lineup was a crisp, light variation on Trademark’s conservative Americana, with new developments in denim.
