Resort was a transitional collection by the Paule Ka design team to serve in the interim between former designer Serge Cajfinger’s depature and incoming creative director Alithia Spuri-Zampetti, who arrives in July. The dress-centric lineup reiterated house codes with fluid trapeze silhouettes in graphic prints, a Fifties bustier cocktail dress and an evening column. Tangerine accents woke up the graphic black and white palette on an A-line dress done in a kaleidoscope of stripes. Guipure lace, another house signature, came in black with white cotton poplin backing on a retro jacket. More forward-thinking was the use of Neoprene to update couture-inspired short dresses decorated with oversize bows. Quiet and formal without its usual dose of quirkiness, this collection was designed to please the brand’s clientele before starting a new chapter for fall 2016.
