Antonio Berardi was inspired by Globe de Mariée display pieces — 19th-century French bell jars with gilt, mirrored or porcelain embellishments, designed to preserve wedding souvenirs. As a result, his resort collection abounded in rich decorations: embroideries, mirrors and hardware punctuating a range of pieces, including a romper, which actually looked like a dress, worked in silk cadi. A touch of sweetness, which is kind of unusual for this designer, appeared in knitted dresses with lace inserts and slightly puffy linen skirts.

The collection also featured more body-conscious styles, some sporting straps inspired by police officers’ bulletproof vests — an unconventional, if functional. touch.  There were constructed jackets, bearing the touch of classic men’s tailoring until one saw the fluid details on the back. A trench incorporated a detachable bomber jacket.
