“Sports is the toy department of life,” said New York-based sportswriter Jimmy Cannon once said. Inspired by this quote, Massimo Giorgetti explored the world of sports, which he combined captivatingly with romantic accents.
Maxi cotton T-shirts with sports-team-like logos were embellished with ruffles worked in floral silk, while a hooded sweatshirt was worn with a feminine plissé skirt and an oversize acid denim coat. The silhouette of football uniforms echoed in tops with maxi shoulders, fitted striped ribbed-knitted sweaters referenced cycling atmospheres and intarsia leather skirts were inspired by motocross apparel. Giorgetti also designed an ancient Roman-like pattern combining flowers with images of tennis and football players, snowboarders and riders, which appeared in a deconstructed lightweight cotton biker jacket.
Everything was infused with a playful vibe, which reached the climax in a range of color blocked nylon sweatshirts and jogging pants with an Eighties feel.
