Angel Sanchez looked to the archipelago of Los Roques, Venezuela for a demure resort collection of 12 evening gowns. Just as the coral reefs are positioned against gradient blue waters in Los Roques, Plexiglas and acetate embroidery was juxtaposed against blue and green shaded fabric.

The lineup outlined the most classic silhouettes of the label’s archive. A jacquard trumpet gown in admiral blue was quintessential Angel Sanchez, updated with acetate embroidery on an illusionary back — its silhouette elegant and classic. A strapless sapphire ballgown with a hint of lace bodice was another standout, accentuated by an asymmetrical ruffle overlay mimicking the movement of crashing waves.

Hand-sewn embroideries done with rhinestones and in acetate on tulle, a carryover design detail from the Spring 2017 bridal collection, further helped convey the tropical illusion.
