Following the recent exit of creative director Danielle Sherman, Edun’s design team took the reigns for resort. Striped patterns were the collection’s central motif, rendered across everything from denim to neutral knits; the references ranged from a striped swimsuit-clad Diana Ross lounging poolside in Palm Springs in the Seventies to the ceremonial dress of Liberia’s Gio people.
The looks brimmed with artisanal flourish, from the raw, fraying hemlines seen throughout to the handcrafted mother-of-pearl buttons that decorated several tops. Trenchcoats, vests and boxy, cropped jackets — done in a South African cotton canvas fabric, mixed with patchwork sateen — gave structure to the fluid silk dresses. An elegant color-blocked caftan dress with cutout sleeves and black piping captured the collection’s easy spirit.
