The first pre-collection from Galvan, the London-based evening label, was inspired by Joshua Tree. Colors of the desert — rose, stone and cactus green — figured in its palette; creatures of the desert inspired several silhouettes. The bulk of the lineup consisted of easy silhouettes — a satin trench; a spare, breezy jumpsuit in navy-tipped white — with a few more elaborate ideas, such as the “dragon” gown with winglike white ruffles down the back and the “rattlesnake” dress trimmed in orange paillettes.

Overall, the collection achieved Galvan’s mission of providing clean, modern cocktail attire that doesn’t break the bank.
