Angela Missoni doesn’t tread on a theme lightly. For M Missoni resort, New York in the Eighties set the playful tone, one inspired by graffiti and urban nightlife, and energized by graphic patterns in bold neons — from polka dots and stripes to the house’s signature zigzags. It gained an extra edge with intarsia embroideries of city skylines and pixel-filled facial closeups that recalled the work of American pop artist Roy Lichtenstein.

The silhouettes also recalled the era, ranging from boxy, as in a series of edgy Modish minidresses with metal grommets, to oversize and fluid, with jumpsuits and skirts rendered in the house’s signature Lurex and jacquard knits. And then there was the cropped sweater paired with graphic leggings, styled with a wide leather belt and blue-green pumps. It felt unmistakably Eighties — and ready to boogie.
