Marcia Patmos centered her resort collection around the idea of a “modern-day heirloom” — those quirky vintage items you might find in your grandmother’s closet, which you like “but wish fit better or were more modern,” she said. So, you give them a tweak.
All of her knitwear had a sense of occasion — from metallic fringed sweaters that could take you to a party to lightweight crocheted cardigans fit for an island getaway. Other richly textured looks featured braided embroidery, hand-tied knots and fabric petals or feathers. Playing with the tension between minimalism and maximalism, Patmos intentionally kept her palette muted in order to let the embellishments shine, as they did quite literally on a gray cashmere cardigan decorated with crystals. “I wanted to make the collection feel lighthearted,” she said.
