Nanette Lepore took her girl on a Roman holiday for resort, working a flirty vibe throughout her latest lineup full of feminine silhouettes, decked out with floral embroideries and textured lace. “When I first went to Italy, I was only going to the northern side, to Milan, and I had a whole different impression of Italy. [The north] is austere and controlled,” Lepore explained. “But you get to Rome and everything is wild; there are girls on Vespas in fishnet stockings.”
Channeling the latter, more free-spirited attitude — think Anita Ekberg in Federico Fellini’s “La Dolce Vita” — Lepore offered a selection of dresses that ranged from flowy, off-the shoulder evening styles to short, sexed-up minidresses, such as a pale pink number in bodycon guipure lace. As for separates, Lepore worked in ruffled bell-sleeve blouses in leopard printed silk chiffon, floral-embroidered “grandma” cardigans and a chic pair of wide-leg trousers with contrast top-stitching.
