For resort, Monica Paolini and Sean Monahan updated their signature eyelet and lace-accented styles in more structured fabrics — think crisp cotton, seersucker and nylon. The latter was used on a few windbreakers, including one rendered in hot pink, part of the brand’s new experimentation with color. Ruffled necklines, fringe embellishment and prints — from borders to paisleys — imparted a feminine charm, which Paolini and Monahan offset with a few tomboy pieces, such as striped cotton shirts, a camel trench (albeit with a dramatic draped collar) and boyish denim trousers cut with a wide leg and a thick, cuffed hem.


Overall, the duo likes to give their girl what she’s come to expect, with slight tweaks each season. “We try to expand the vocabulary but keep it in the same voice. It’s a customer-driven brand and we want to be dependable,” Monahan said.
