One might say Mark Badgley and James Mischka are traditionalists. Case in point: their resort collection zeroing in on a customer who jets around the globe — made clear by them showing the collection in action on a private jet. Resort, to them, is designed for a woman on the go and the duo reported they’ve been talking to customers who are planning trips to Monte Carlo and Casablanca. Taking that to heart, they looked to the film classic “Casablanca,” too, using it as inspiration.
In a fun new partnership, resort sees them team up with K9 Wear, which used their fabrics to create matching doggy wear built on tiny harnesses, creating a blanket shape and a real mommy and me — albeit a puppy — moment.
The look: A colorful and joyous Badgley Mischka take on international jet set chic power dressing.
Quote of note: “Our customer is traveling again. The clothes are a celebration of her getting back out there.”
Key looks: Colorful column gowns, painterly floral print dresses, a blue paillette sequin two piece suit that creates a rippling water life effect.
Takeaway: An elegant and relaxed take on both event and destination dressing in the post-pandemic world.
