Desiring modern, playful party fashions that span decades? Look no further than Rebecca Hessel Cohen’s resort collection for LoveShackFancy.
“Everyone is excited for party-party-party! That’s a good thing because we went really heavy into party dresses and holiday, which is what we were going to do for last year but switched gears and went super cozy,” the designer explained during her collection preview appointment.
To build out her collection of uplifting fashions, Hessel Cohen channeled a little bit of the Studio 54 era. References spanned from Halston-esque pleated silk fashions and metallic star-embroidered minis to super high-slit ’70s maxis and ’80s Ungaro cocktail shakers with big bows. From there, she peppered in iconic fashion moments from the ’90s and 2000s (argyle “Clueless” sweater sets, Carrie Bradshaw tulle skirts, boxy “Chanel tweed” knits). For day, Hessel Cohen layered in new takes of the brand’s signature florals, lace, intricate embroideries.
The look: Playfully sexy, glammed-up fashions with LoveShackFancy’s feminine, cute charm.
Quote of note: “Going through all the decades that make us feel good, want to dance, blast music, lift us up and be together. A different state of mind than we were in last holiday.”
Key pieces: Cocktail shakers galore, like a plaid frock with oversize bow, a taffeta pink version with flocked velvet hearts and star embroidered numbers; metallic miniskirt and jackets with knubby cardigans; Fair Isle bow sweaters and matching argyle knit sets; fluid, dance floor-ready maxidresses.
The takeaway: Modernly referencing party fashions and iconic moments from the ’70s, ’80s, ’90s and the 2000s to today, Hessel Cohen’s resort collection was both uplifting and nostalgic.
