Gilles Mendel lifted ready-to-wear silhouettes from his fall runway and reinterpreted them with a delicate hand in his softly romantic bridal lineup for J.Mendel.
All of his gowns were slender, hugging the body. After the introduction of last season’s Champagne-hued dress — the house’s first time playing with color for wedding wear — Mendel chose pale blue for spring. He used it in strapless gowns, one in featherweight pleated chiffon and another with colorful beaded embroidery in a calla lily pattern, a motif also seen on his fall ready-to-wear collection.
A few long-sleeve looks done in sheer lace had a bohemian flair — particularly one style with billowing, pleated bell sleeves and transparent waist cutouts — while a short-sleeve silhouette with a mesh-beaded bodice struck an effortlessly sensual note.
