This year marks the 20th anniversary of Monique Lhuillier’s line, and to celebrate, the designer dug into her archives for her spring collection, re-creating favorites such as her tiered-skirt gowns in a modern way.
Lhuillier stated she was inspired by the image of “a carefree woman running through a garden, capturing the feeling of being madly in love” — a concept that translated into a light and effortless collection, full of fanciful confections. The feminine lineup ranged from lingerie-inspired slipdresses with delicate embroideries to a delicate, embellished petal gown with a deep neckline. Lhuillier also hand-painted florals on tissue-weight organza.
It was also refreshing to see color on the runway, in tones that ranged from rose to pistachio.
