When it comes to bridalwear, “sexy is old and overdone,” declared Peter Langner. Instead, simplicity and elegance were the watchwords of his collection this season.

And, one might add, beautiful craftsmanship. A mermaid gown was adorned with an asymmetrical front, lending a chic modern look to the classic style. A long cape was interestingly embroidered with chiffon cubes and crystals. There were also a number of intricate, enchanting ballgowns.

Langner also showed his couture line, inspired by the Alberto Burri’s exhibition at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum last autumn; despite some pretty jacquards with a painterly motif, most of the dresses lacked the youthfulness of his bridal line.
