“True chaos comes from the garden of your soul; where wild flowers grow.”
This quote from
Matt Baker inspired Rita Vinieris’ two spring bridal collections, Rita Vinieris Rivini and Alyne by Rita Vinieris. Both lines had a romantic yet sexy California dreamer vibe, as the designer played with texture, depth and layers of transparency, as tulle mixed with lace botanical motifs and intricate beadwork. She showed both in an alfresco presentation format on the terrace of the Standard Hotel. Alyne by Rita Vinieris, her lower-priced line, was filled with traditional looks from lace sheath dresses to voluminous A-line gowns with embroidered appliqués. Guests then had to wait more than 30 minutes for the Rivini show to start (perhaps some of Baker’s “true chaos” was occurring backstage). But, luckily for Vinieris, it was a beautiful spring day. And, when it finally appeared, the lineup of fanciful frocks — ranging from a demure lace slipdress with a beaded fringe vest to a frothy, voluminous bias-layered ballgown with a tailored open-back bodice — was worth the wait.
