Yoshio Kubo shocked his audience for his spring/summer show when flames suddenly rose from the runway, warming the crowd that had gathered at the outdoor venue. His models strutted out in edgy, masculine designs, flashing mouthfuls of gold or silver teeth as they passed the cameras. Kubo showed a range of both refined and casual styles, such as suits or nylon jackets, all with an edgy twist. Pant legs were wrapped with string or strips of fabric around the calves, shorts and jackets were embellished with metal zippers, and suits were given a whimsical or arty air with the addition of all-over embroidered emblems or ikat-like patterns on the fabric.
