Mark Badgley and James Mischka celebrated their 25th year in business with one of their strongest collections ever. Inspired by photographer Jacques Henri Lartigue’s images of women in the French Riviera in the Twenties and Thirties, the clothes had an elegant ease. Worked in a chic navy-and-white palette, the duo’s daywear included tweed sheath dresses, bra tops paired with palazzo pants and a beautiful skirt done in strips of beading and transparent fabric.

As for their signature eveningwear, much was light and airy, including a beachy floral-print gown and a sleeveless blouse paired with a frothy ballgown skirt. Other looks shined in iridescent fabrics and mother-of-pearl embroideries. “Picture her jumping off her yacht into the sea like a glamorous mermaid,” quipped Badgley. After 25 years, in Mark and James’ hands, glamour is a given.
