“I happen to be in a very positive place right now,” said Misha Nonoo, who graduated to her first runway show for spring. “I’m feeling lightness.”
That resonated in the clothes, which were certainly cheerful in terms of the pastel colors — a lot of minty green and yellow — if they got tangled in some complicated fabrics.
Nonoo was largely inspired by Gerhard Richter and his squeegee series, which she attempted to translate by pleating portions of a garment to mixed results. A crisp white shirtdress with a soft, pleated chiffon panel at the shoulder and skirt was a yes; a patent skirt with clunky asymmetric panels was less successful.
