After several seasons of presentations, Tanya Taylor opted for her first runway show for spring. “When you’re playing with fabrics like organza that move, it’s more effective to have a show,” Taylor noted. Inspired by Caro Niederer’s landscape paintings, Taylor reinterpreted the artist’s use of color with shades of pink, orange and blue. A painter herself, Taylor hand-painted the floral motifs that came on a white leather dress and moto jacket, resulting in a tough-yet-girly look. (She and her team also painted all of her show invites.) Elsewhere, the collection was feminine and sweet, with rainbow stripes on dresses and skirts, a gingham-and-floral printed frock and more florals on a jacket, this time in the form of oversize appliqués.
