Turkish designer Hakaan Yildirim was inspired by the symbiotic relationship between humans and nature, and took the bee as his paradigm.
Pleated cage dresses, layered hexagonal bustiers, sheer panels in that same honeycomb shape, figurative bee motifs beaded and embroidered onto silk, and a striking tessellated coat in primary colors were among the standout looks.
The label, which started life in 2011 as Hakaan, has undergone a name change this season along with a new aesthetic that uses more color and less overt sex appeal — and seems headed in the right direction.
