A spread in National Geographic showing the Masai cricket team — wearing skirts, beaded jewelry and shin pads — was the springboard for Preen’s confident offering. Designers Justin Thornton and Thea Bregazzi also called on Nineties hip-hop references in this sophisticated collection that was filled with relaxed silhouettes. A pair of fetching, baggy white trousers had a red-and-white striped panel at the sides, while Masai beads emerged as beaded fringing on a few minidresses. Varsity-jacket ribbing served as waistbands and collars on skirts, jackets and tops and was transformed into a couple of witty body-con bandage dresses. The print offerings were a delicate rose devoré and a graphic botanical pattern that came mixed with bold stripes and was especially lovely as a red camisole and floaty wrap-skirt ensemble.
