Kim Trager and Lowell Delaney said they “put all these weird things together,” to create a collection inspired partly by Normcore, Russian culture, and Le Corbusier. It should have jarred, but the clean cuts and strong colors actually worked a treat.
The marigolds, grass greens and royal blues of Communist propaganda posters were color-blocked together to arresting effect on pleated skirts and trouser-and-shirt combinations. Some skirts had paper bag waists and leather ties while a running-man print darted across a silhouette that recalled Russian peasant’s apron dress.
