In a show of typically British eccentricity, high-street brand Whistles staged its presentation in a railway tunnel — albeit in the very smart, white tiled, newly built one leading to the Eurostar terminal at the St Pancras train station.
“We decided to have more fun this season,” said creative director Jane Shepherdson. “We’re always known for being a bit minimal so we wanted to let ourselves go.”
The collection reimagined a traditional summer fabric — broderie anglaise — in leather. The pattern came in teardrop shapes across coats, tops and culottes in both black and white. There were also cute, apron-style overalls, asymmetric silhouettes, raffia fringing on A-line tops and pencil skirts.
