An unrepentant romantic, Anna Molinari channeled her amorous energy into sheer tulle on body-skimming dresses, short and long, abloom with colorful floral embroideries and appliques. Sheer nude tulle with strategically placed flowers does not make for a modest look, but these were built with naïve charm and beautiful craftsmanship.
The collection was Molinari’s nicest in recent memory. She’s often struggled with the line between the celebration of soft femininity and the soft-core, but, here, she firmly sided with the former, working in simple shifts and white shirtdresses with exaggerated cuffs in painterly pastels or restrained black and white. Sure, some of the hemlines were cut a smidge too short, and some of the fabrics were too flimsy, but the overall mood was light, fresh and tasteful.
