For Avelon’s premiere ready-to-wear show in Paris, Dutch designer Erik Frenken gleaned inspiration from worldwide travel and images by Jimmy Nelson, a specialist in tribal and indigenous people portraiture.  Frenken filled the runway with a wide range of styles, including pieces in raffia and embossed leather that played off the globetrotting theme.

While certain looks got muddled by too many contrasting ideas, other silhouettes were strong, such as the paired-down beige trench over white trousers. It is also the first time Avelon has shown accessories — including some notable, chunky fringed necklaces — and footwear.
