Damir Doma’s inspirations were extensive and specific. In the show notes, he cited the lines of an Eileen Gray rug, New Order’s “Power, Corruption & Lies” album, and Audrey Hepburn carrying a fisherman’s net on the beach. The list went on.
No surprise, then, his spring show went in a few directions, from pragmatic tailoring to activewear touches to more languid pieces that looked like they were bound for the shore.
Besides overall commercial appeal, a common thread was hard to find. That said, the collection had plenty for today’s wardrobe, including the summer dress featuring mesh insets on the side and a diaphanous chiffon skirt; the chic sleeveless V-neck top with a metallic peplum shown with a wavy jacquard pencil skirt; and the elegant vest and belted coat, the latter embellished with large glass beads on one sleeve. It would make a chic statement on a modern-day Hepburn out on the town.
