This show and its Latin-revolutionary-fisherman vibe provided scores of terrific-looking clothes for hip guys. One of Tokyo’s hottest men’s designers, Yoshio Kubo delivered a polished and cohesive lineup of sporty jackets, parkas, shorts and pants. Many of these pieces were executed in high-tech fabrics and with plenty of flair.
A fringe-trimmed image of a woman — a near-doppelgänger of Frida Kahlo — appeared on the front of a sweatshirt and on the back of a military-style jacket. Parkas and varsity jackets looked fresh in various combinations of mesh fabrics, stripes, color blocks and a fish pattern. A black-and-white abstract seagull print was incorporated into other interesting pieces, including slim, cropped pants, shorts and jackets.
