Alexander Lewis’ collection took its cue from French-Lebanese artist Flavie Audi, who is known for her cloudlike glass sculptures. He used a rubbing from one of Audi’s sculptures to create the collection’s leitmotif print — abstract waves — which stretched across filmy dresses and separates and also echoed through the silhouettes and the Swarovski crystal and embroidered embellishments.
Highlights included a transparent swing-top layered over a printed dress that looked as if it were floating; a blue skirt with a traced pattern of caviar crystals; and a dark blue photo-print dress — a macro interior image of one of Audi’s sculptures.
The standout piece was a filmy skirt embellished with clouds, mirrored cubes and prisms — “an embroidered representation of something super scientific and a reference to us both geeking out on the refraction of light,” he said joyfully, referring to Audi. “Physics was my favorite science at school.”
