One of London’s rising talents, Molly Goddard let loose her love of smocking, ruching and ruffles on childlike silhouettes. The designer took the bleak British seaside as her inspiration for a presentation that saw models making sandwiches in a factory, wearing smocked baby-doll dresses with bell sleeves that flared at the elbow, long tartan ones with thick ruffled straps, smocked strapless tops and patchwork T-shirts. The factory setting may have been less than cheerful – what with all those sandwiches left to fill – but this naïf, feminine collection suggested sunny days ahead.
