And so went the Topshop Unique show — a parade of DIY ensembles of those elements zhooshed up for cocktail hour with feathery sandals, handbags and boas that did not make this upper range seem more expensive.
The high-street powerhouse had a separate VIP entrance for the show and packed in the “It” girls – Alexa Chung, Jordan Dunn, Ciara, Bella Thorne, Julia Restoin Roitfield and Suki Waterhouse – who could tick off next spring’s must-buys: lounge-y pajama silks in polka dots, a leather shirt, a filmy nylon trenchcoat, a retro secretary blouse. Topshop kingpin Sir Philip Green sat amongst them, beaming.
