Marcia Patmos is known for her technical yet minimalistic knitwear. For spring, she veered in a new direction. Inspired by Cuba, the designer showed vibrant colors, silk stripes and ruffled trims — all of it brighter and girlier than her typical neutral-toned tomboy aesthetic. The stand-out looks were the ribbed knit dresses in contrasting black and white and an abstract camouflage pattern.

It was nice to see this year’s International Woolmark Prize winner evolve her collection. Even with the noticeable shift in focus, spring was not a complete disconnect with the past few seasons as Patmos has been gradually adding more color and pattern to her lineup.
