Parting from her usual runway format, Tanya Taylor shook things up by presenting her spring collection instead. “My favorite thing in life is a room full of color and I wanted to be involved in the moment with the audience,” she said.

And Taylor wasn’t kidding about the room full of color: Threads in multiple hues hung all over the ceiling, a precursor to the optimistic mood of the collection. A trip to Kenya inspired the vivacious striped and floral dresses as well as the khaki vests and utility skirts Taylor paired with printed blouses. “I love how the people there use wraps and plaids around their bodies — with such confidence,” she explained, alluding to a pink-and-navy plaid fit-and-flare midi dress with a pleated front panel. Other favorites included the off-the-shoulder tribal-striped peasant tops and dresses in blue and orange; a striped and floral midi skirt with knit top, and a sweater with a Swarovski crystal fringe detail at the front — very cheerful, indeed.
