Ryan Lobo and Ramon Martin had dual inspirations for their spring collection for Tome: Australian artist Fiona Hall — noted for her work with carved sculptures made from ordinary objects — and American fashion photographer Roxanne Lowit, who captured behind-the-scenes moments at fashion shows and the nightlife of the late Seventies and Eighties.
It was the duo’s most feminine offering to date, with more skin on display than ever before and ramped up offerings for eveningwear. Fluid silk halter gowns were a nod to the glamour of the Seventies. But ruffles were the main event, many of them falling off the shoulder on blouses, conveying an effortless sensuality. Pops of pink, purple and yellow appeared throughout the mostly neutral lineup, some in floral prints drawn from Hall’s work, keeping the season’s overall look playful and fresh.
