Indie designer Mona Kowalska has developed a cult following with her label A Détacher by creating unique and artistic pieces. For spring, she played with the idea of sporty elegance, noting backstage that her intent was to meet the multiple roles women must juggle today.
Kowalska worked her crafty lineup in beautiful lace, delicate knits and, for the first time, denim. The collection had a streetwear-meets-Victorian vibe with tiny floral prints that were inspired by the quilting of 19th-century bedding. She paired an oversize hoodie with a lace skirt over lace leggings, styled prim floral-print dresses atop denim pants, juxtaposed utility skirts and sweet tops, and matched a space-dyed knit top and leggings with a lace skirt. Even with all the piled-on layers, Kowalska managed to keep her collection light enough for spring.
