Comfortable, versatile pieces crafted from high-quality fabrics and infused with a sense of relaxed sophistication — that’s what the M. Martin spring collection was all about. Alex Gilbert Gaines and Jennifer Noyes continued to shape the image of their brand by incorporating more feminine elements into their signature mannish style. Next to separates in solid colors, they introduced a pretty floral jacquard pattern with a tropical feel, using it on a trenchcoat paired with slim pants and in an elegant full-skirted shirtdress. Paying tribute to their love for Ernest Hemingway, the designers imbued the lineup with military references, which included a shirt with applied pockets and a utilitarian oversize denim parka. In keeping with the inspiration, a nurselike outfit recalled “A Farewell to Arms.”
