Norma Kamali has thought about women’s wardrobes and lifestyles long enough so that her client does not need to waste her time figuring out one of life’s daily problems: what to wear. For starters, Kamali offers a year-round, permanent collection that contains the smart essentials from which a wardrobe is built.
For fall, though, she brought out the fun stuff. “These are things that are also timeless, that can be easily incorporated into the wardrobe,” she said. Take, for instance, anything in her classic motif groups: a pinstriped tailored jacket; a polka-dot, puffed-sleeve top; a graphic jacket; or a quilted skirt — “nothing here goes out of style.”
But it was those “I never knew I needed this” pieces — the grommeted dresses, the embellished gloves, the tulle skirts, the terry jumpsuits and quilted coats — that women will surely find a way to incorporate into their closets. Because who doesn’t want a metallic sequined dress made out of scarves?
