Sometimes even the most talented designers fall flat on the runway. This was the case at Oday Shakar. Pretty belted caftans, fluid skirts with zip-up vests and jackets, and a variety of chiffon dresses with geometrical cuts can look great on the red carpet — which is Shakar’s forte as he has dressed everyone from Camila Alves to Sandra Bullock — but they don’t necessarily translate into a memorable show. Yes, the gowns were beautifully made, but there simply wasn’t enough depth in the lineup to command an entire New York Fashion Week presentation.
