Lyndsey Butler created a “Strange Paradise” for spring, shaking up her cool line of leather wear with breezy textures and abstract fruit motifs. With warmer weather in mind, she rendered Veda’s core silhouettes in cotton twill, poplin and other lightweight fabrics — as in a classic motorcycle jacket done in sand-colored washed linen, or another biker style that featured a red leather body with red linen sleeves.
As for those signature leathers, Butler updated her tough-girl jackets with colorful embroidery, and all of them paired well with her patent leather half-moon handbags with bamboo handles. Knits are another top-performing category for the label, and for spring they included whimsical watermelon intarsias, bouclé alpaca sweaters with crochet detailing, and a super cute striped and ribbed bodysuit. A fluid, cropped, pale peach cardigan with a dramatic tie-waist was a standout. On the frillier side, pink silk slipdresses decorated with line drawings of fruit invoked a playful, escapist mood. Ditto for Butler’s white-cotton poplin series with water-colored still life prints of sunsets and pottery.
