Anna Molinari’s Blumarine collection has always stood for femininity and beauty – and she stuck to that formula for spring. Every season though, she sets a challenge before herself. She mentioned in her notes that it was all about finding a balance between sensual and romantic. To achieve this, she played with black and white polka dots in everything from fit-and-flare dresses to peasant ruffled blouses.
“I focused on black and white but, it’s not a severe black and white. It’s light and more romantic; it’s very very feminine,” she said backstage. Elsewhere, she nodded to the Orient, giving delicate almost pajama-like floral blouses mandarin collars and putting obi belts on dresses and tops. A slight Forties sensibility lingered throughout some of the dotted sheer dresses with floral embroideries, while flowing sheer gowns in colorful sherbet hues of lime, pink and blue exemplified the collection’s fresh and breezy tone.
