For spring 2018, the paintings of Gustav Klimt, as referenced by head designer Sophia Berman, provided the main inspiration for Sass & Bide’s latest offering. Klimt’s sensual way of portraying women, mixed with his decorative look and use of the color gold, gave way to a collection rich in texture.
There were plenty of versatile day pieces that could also be dressed up for night: graphic collaged separates, drapey silk dresses and updated denim skirts and pants. Shirting was updated with embellished sleeves and styled with a great deconstructed trench skirt. The strongest pieces of the collection were those that centered around more “night out” looks. On the softer side, there was a one shoulder, pale pink draped dress paired with a metal prosia flower belt, stemming directly from Klimt’s work, as well as a long-sleeve, white voluminous dress with hints of gold. For the more daring, Sass & Bide provided a plentiful variety of golden looks. From a body-hugging gold mesh gown with metallic cuffs to a hand-woven glomesh and chain metal dress, Sass & Bide’s latest looks were meant to be taken out on the town.
