In this summery, sportif collection recalling cruise collections of yore, Christine Phung managed to infuse some freshness while never alienating the house’s clientele.
Prints ranged from a Constructivist design mixing blue blocks and diagonal stripes to a painterly Impressionist-style floral print.
Nautical references abounded, ranging from sailor pant-inspired shorts and knits with brass buttons to a billowing dress lopped shorter at the front and sporting industrial eyelets threaded with white rope straps that nodded to boat sails.
Sporty stripes edged a lot of the looks, tracing the V-neck décolleté on dresses and bathing suits, as well as on easy pajama silhouettes.
There were tons of signature Leonard florals in classic colors, but the designer also gave them some disco flash in the sequin variations with a Seventies “Love Boat” flavor, and a cute look pairing an iridescent printed scarf top with matching shorts.
