Since the resort season, mother-daughter duo Silvia Tcherassi and Sofia Espinosa Tcherassi have been working and creating collections in Miami. For spring, the Colombian designers were directly influenced by their current surroundings: Palm Beach.
“I was inspired by those intimate gatherings in Palm Beach that showcased exquisite glamour and a postwar zeal, remarkably captured by the lens of Slim Aarons. Or the luxurious summer nights in Greece of Jackie Kennedy and her sister, Lee Radziwill. We tend to look back and romanticize these iconic periods, oftentimes forgetting that crises and misfortune had preceded it,” Tcherassi explained.
Over the years, the namesake brand has succeeded through its luxurious resortwear, blending sophisticated swimwear with day- and eveningwear seamlessly; the duo did so for spring once again. The collection featured hand-embroideries, laser-cut floral details and prints aplenty (striped, mosaic, geometric) on relaxed sets and fluid frocks, fashionably mixing and matching fabrics and textures à la the style of interior designer Dorothy Draper. For instance, a patchwork and embroidered multiblue striped maxiskirt with rose embroidered bralette and navy bucket hat. The collection offered elegant ease from day to night, aptly displayed for the spring look book against the lush, pink backdrop of the The Colony Hotel in Palm Beach.
