Latest Blow for Gap: Group Plots New Tack As Sales Slide Goes On

It's bad news on top of bad news for Gap Inc. — and with no turnaround in plain sight. The struggling retailer report Thursday that December sales dropped 8 percent on comparable-store basis, after a 9 percent decrease in December 2005.

From This Issue

Old Navy reported a same-store sales drop of 10 percent, while Gap comps were off 9 percent.
